Update

The 2019 outdoor tennis season is finally here. The complimentary Adult Group Lessons will begin this Monday (that’s right Easter Monday), April 22nd at 7:00 p.m. The Beginner’s Group will kick things off with an introduction to forehand and backhand stressing the 5 fundamentals:

  1. Grip

  2. Set-Up

  3. Contact Point

  4. Hitting Zone

  5. Recovery

The class is geared towards players who have never played tennis before and all those who need a refresher of the basics. The plan for the 4 week session is as follows:

  1. Forehand and Backhand

  2. Volley and Overhead

  3. Serve

  4. Doubles Game Situation

The Intermediate Class will begin at 8:00 p.m. and will concentrate on basic positioning in the game of doubles with clear description of the responsibilities of each player on the court, i.e. the server, the server’s partner, the returner and the returner’s partner. As the 4 week session progresses, different scenarios will be discussed, which will give all the players an opportunity to further develop their doubles skills and learn new strategies.

For those players who prefer to learn by taking private lessons, I’ll be happy to arrange a time with you, which is mutually convenient and doesn’t conflict with other Club activities. Usual private lesson with me will begin with a brief warm-up, followed by introduction of the lesson plan and drills geared towards improving specific stroke(s).

If anyone has any questions pertaining to lessons or any Club Activities, please don’t hesitate to email me back at: headpro@martingrovetennis.com or I can be reached directly at (416) 821-5555. Thank you for your support of Martingrove Tennis Club; let’s make 2019 the best season ever!
